What we are looking for:

  • You have strong analytical skills and in-depth technical knowledge in mechanical engineering or related disciplines.

  • You preferably hold a master’s degree, which is essential for thoroughly analyzing the physics behind our systems.

  • You have an affinity with modeling, simulation, and data analysis; basic knowledge of Python is an advantage.

About your role as a R&D Engineer

As an R&D Engineer, you play a key role in the development and innovation of our machines and processes. You are involved in conducting research, leading projects, and providing support in addressing technical challenges, with the aim of continuously improving the quality, efficiency, and functionality of our products and processes.

In addition, you are responsible for stimulating and facilitating multidisciplinary collaboration within R&D projects. By working closely with departments such as engineering, sales, production, and service, you ensure that innovations are optimally aligned with Madern’s broader organizational objectives.

Your responsibilities as a R&D Engineer

  • Independently conducting, analyzing, and reporting on technical research at both product and process level.

  • Leading R&D projects from initiation through implementation, with end-to-end technical responsibility.

  • Developing, testing, and validating new concepts, including building prototypes (e.g. using our in-house 3D printer).

  • Solving complex technical challenges in collaboration with engineering, production, service, and sales.

  • Actively engaging internal and external stakeholders within R&D projects.

  • Supervising research activities carried out by external parties.

  • Being involved in commissioning activities and resolving technical issues at customer sites.

  • Safeguarding knowledge through proper documentation and knowledge sharing within the organization.

  • Staying up to date in the field by attending training courses and industry trade shows.

  • Occasional worldwide travel to customer locations.
