As a senior mechanical engineer, you are technically responsible for designing, developing, and improving innovative mechanical systems and machines within the packaging sector. You combine in-depth technical expertise with practical experience to create high-quality, efficient, and reliable machines that meet customer and market requirements. In this role, you work directly with the project engineer and are part of a multidisciplinary engineering team. You also collaborate closely with other disciplines such as hardware, PLC, and robotics engineering. You make a key contribution to complex projects, from the concept phase to commissioning, and support the resolution of technical challenges.

What we are looking for:

  • A completed technical HBO (higher vocational education) degree, preferably in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a similar technical field;
  • Several years of relevant work experience in mechanical design within machine building, preferably with packaging machines and automation robots;
  • In-depth knowledge of 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, SolidEdge, or Inventor) and PDM/PLM applications;
  • Experience with strength calculations and dynamic analyses is a plus;
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, drives, and materials;
  • Familiarity with standards and guidelines within machine building (e.g., CE markings);
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities;
  • Experience with project-based work and multidisciplinary collaboration;
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English;
  • Experience with AutoCAD is a plus.

About your role as a Senior Mechanical Engineer

Your responsibilities as a Senior Mechanical Engineer

  • You design the mechanical systems and components for our machine solutions and develop them according to customer requirements;
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and concepts based on customer needs and project requirements;
  • Select materials and components for optimal performance and durability;
  • Create and review drawings and calculations related to the mechanical specifications at all stages of the project;
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of existing machines and processes;
  • Identify trends and innovations within mechanical engineering and apply them to new designs;
  • Contribute to the standardization of designs and components where possible;
  • Identify technical bottlenecks during the engineering process and resolve them;
  • Act as a mechanical expert within a multidisciplinary team;
  • Monitor quality and cost control during the design phase;
  • Support the in-house testing phase as well as the installation and commissioning phase at the customer site;
  • Provide technical support in the procurement process;
  • Assist the service department with after-sales activities.
